PRESENT POSITION
Louis Yorey, MAI, ASA, MRICS, is Senior Vice President and National Real Estate Practice Leader for Marshall & Stevens. His responsibilities comprise management of the Real Estate Valuation Practice on a national basis, including fresh start accounting for bankruptcy, FAS 141 and 142 engagements, and valuations for litigation and financing. His valuation and consulting experience includes investment-grade properties in the local, national and international markets for numerous Fortune 500 companies.
EXPERIENCE
Prior to his association with Marshall & Stevens, Mr. Yorey served as National Director at Huron Consulting Group, where he was responsible for the development and co-management of the Tangible Asset Practice consisting of real estate and machinery and equipment. Valuation engagements included fresh start accounting for bankruptcy, FAS 141 and 142 engagements, and valuations for litigation and financing. His international experience included valuations of industrial and manufacturing assets of a European company for purchase price allocation, for locations in Spain, England, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
As a Senior Manager at Standard & Poors, Mr. Yorey developed and managed the real estate valuation and consulting practice. In addition, he possesses 15 years’ experience in the valuation of machinery and equipment, specializing in the industrial and manufacturing arenas. He is experienced as an expert witness and has provided litigation support and testimony for ad valorem and civil cases.
As a founding member of L. A. Yorey & Associates, Inc., Mr. Yorey’s appraisal projects included retail, multi-family, industrial, vacant land, subdivisions, office, mixed-use and special purpose properties. In addition, he managed the real estate valuation group for Appraisal Economics, Inc., being responsible for all commercial real estate appraisals, feasibility analyses, insurance appraisals and highest and best use studies. Consulting assignments included site location analysis, market and feasibility studies, due diligence, portfolio valuations and economic analysis of proposed projects.
EDUCATION
Mr. Yorey holds an MS in Real Estate Valuation & Analysis from NY University (New York, NY). Additionally, he earned a BS in Urban Studies from Montclair State College (Upper Montclair, NJ).
